abode of the afterlife, and which makes this journey pleasant.” Ibn Qayyim
When we look at works that are positives in Islam. We always think of doing things like reading Quran praying more waking up tahajid but there is a whole world of works that we never think about and these are works of the heart. Everybody’s familiar with the saying that actions are by their intentions. Intention is one of the major works of the heart because the location of the intention is in the heart and it can transform any external action to a good action or a bad action. The works of the heart are therefore more important as a bad intention in the heart can ruin the work completely.
Many would be surprised to know that hope is also one of the actions of the heart that is praised in the Koran. In the Koran Allah calls the believers as people of hope as they have hope in Allah and of the last day and also people who have good opinion of God.
This is because they have combined good works or good actions with hope for the reward. Praiseworthy hope is present when one does good works and then hopes for the reward and acceptance similarly when one does something wrong and repents and hopes for the acceptance of the repentance then that also is praiseworthy hope. Having hope without is a blameworthy type of hope.
